HVSH Reunion

(Please click on the photo to see more pictures.)

We had a very interesting weekend. Last week, Oberon sniffed out a litter of kittens that were left in our yard. Over the next few days, the mom moved 4 of the 5 kittens. Michele took it upon herself to find the fifth one a good home. After a quick checkup at the vet, she found out that the kitten was only a few weeks old. Her parents agreed to watch the kitten until Tiff's Mom could take it in. Jake got pretty attached over the weekend and wasn't too happy to leave it at GnGT's, but it seems like he's mostly forgotten about it already.

After dropping the kitten off on Sunday, we headed to Walled Lake for Huron Valley's bi-annual open house. The CCN had a great booth again, and Jake got a bunch of little goodies including a Mickey Mouse backpack. We also got to see a lot of the nurses that helped to take care of Jake and Michele during their stay. We were a little worried based on the time and Jake's nap, but the snacks really helped out. Jake was yawning while we were signing in, but then an ice cream bar, a cookie, and a rice krispie treat later, and you couldn't even tell he missed his nap. Then again, a few hours after that we had a whining, tired kid on our hands!

We also have a few more videos to share.

In this video, Jake was playing with a football in the kitchen.

In this video, Jake shows off his ability to spin some puzzle pieces.

Lastly, we get to see Jake practicing his ABC's.

Movies Galore

Jake said something that cracked us up this morning. After kneeling at the dining room table to play with playdoh, he got down and we could tell his legs were asleep. He paused holding onto the chair, and then, when he walked to the kitchen, he said, "Jake legs go boing boing."

Michele definitely got more use out of the video mode on our camera this summer. Here are all the videos that have been queued up waiting for "post processing". I hope you enjoy!

While Jason and Jo had some people looking at their house, Michele offered to watch Obie for a while. Jake felt it was his duty to keep him entertained.

Sorry about this, but there's a little more Elmo. We thought the end was pretty funny. Keep in mind that this was taken shortly after our trip to Shelby on Lake Michigan.

Here's Jake singing along to a CD with Baa Baa Black Sheep. Mommy changes who the bags are for, thus his confusion at that part of the song!

Michele captured this video of Jake reading his Goodnight Pooh book. While looking at it on the computer, Jake fell in love with it, and we had to capture his reaction to watching himself.

Lastly, we have a short clip of Jake being rewarded for using the potty after taking his bath. He even started trying and actually using the potty at daycare! I think we are a long ways from getting out of diapers, but it's nice seeing him make progress.

Timber!!!

(Please click on the photo to see more pictures.)

After losing one of the three trees on the side of our house to a storm, a while back, the city agreed that the other two should be taken down. We got excited in the early spring when they were tagged because we thought they'd be coming down soon. As the summer wore on, we were beginning to think maybe someone thought that the blue spray paint was just a nice decoration.

While working from home yesterday, I heard a bunch of trucks outside the house that turned out to be a tree removal company. I was able to snap a few pictures as they quickly and methodically removed the two large trees. Jo said she got some video of the larger tree coming down, so if I can get Jason to get that up on YouTube, I'll link over to that later. I didn't want to look like too much of a tool, so all of my shots of the action were taken through our dining room window.

Sadly, it looks like we'll now have a very unobstructed view later this year when the movers are busy packing up the Pruss family. Michele is also worried about the lack of shade in our backyard. I'm just happy that I don't have to worry during every gust of wind if another giant branch is going to come crashing down!
